Just about two weeks ago, we got a break from all the crazy weather here in Massachusetts – severe thunderstorms and even tornadoes – when a sunny piece of Texas came to town.
It’s difficult to describe how much I love my dear cousin, but she always manages to bring smiles and sun to wherever she is. She lit up my wedding when she agreed to be one of my two bridesmaids nearly 3 years ago.
She makes family gatherings more than just tolerable (just kidding… I love ALL my family) but incredibly enjoyable:
She also sends me those little reminders to smile.
During my most recent hospitalization, my dear Aunt Karen decided to surprise me with something I desperately needed – a little bit of Sunshine. Just two weeks later, Keith and I were headed to Logan to pick up my cousin – straight from Texas!
We got straight to work sharing the sun with Boston and my mito sister Sarah with a walk down the Boston Esplanade.
We followed that up with a movie night and staying up late playing Sporcle. The following day we goofed around the house until heading out to Chunky’s in Nashua. Chunky’s is a movie theater layed out similarly to a diner, except you sit in huge Lincoln Navigator seats that recline. Waitresses then come around to take your order of incredibly greasy food. It’s awesome. We settled in to watch Hangover 2 (yes, it was pretty bad, but we continued a tradition as we saw Hangover when she was last in town).
The following day, I decided to take a “rest day” so Keith took Lindsay into Gloucester to see some of her extended family. They had a blast and I got to rest up so it was win-win. We topped off the day with another round of Sporcle saying goodnight and goodbye simultaneously as Keith had to take her to the airport early the following morning.
I’m so grateful that we got to spend this special time with Lindsay. I think a good dose of Sunshine is just what the doctor ordered!
It was a dose of Boston sunshine for Lindsay as well, Chelsea! I am so grateful for the special bond that you and LIndsay have! Love you tons! Aunt Karen
